STORY & PROCESS

Traditional craftsmanship, built to endure

Originally commissioned in summer 2023, the Masterworks China Cabinet was conceived as a substantial, traditionally built piece in select American black walnut. Its construction brought together bench-made methods, hand-cut joinery, glasswork, and carefully fitted solid brass hardware.

Craftsmanship Highlights

Hand-cut door joinery
The paired twelve-lite glass doors are framed with hand-cut cope-and-stick joinery.

Dovetailed case construction
The lower case is built with hand-cut dovetailed carcass construction.

Architectural detailing
A tailored crown molding profile and sculpted ogee bracket feet bring traditional architectural character to the cabinet, while solid brass hardware provides the finishing detail.
