Tools

I often get sent tools by manufacturers to test. As a benefit to my readers and audience, I’ll write about these tools and offer my opinions on their use within many different settings and applications. This includes furniture and cabinet making, but also includes tools commonly used in carpentry, home renovation, and DIY projects. Some of this content is sponsored. However, the opinions expressed are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of my sponsors.

Taking the Noise Out of Small Shop Air Compressors

The compressors that I’ve owned over the years have taken up too much space or were annoyingly loud. The new Husky double stack silent air compressor may be the solution for my small shop needs.

Indasa's Rhynogrip Whiteline Sanding Discs and Roll

I was recently sent a sampling of Rhynogrip Whiteline sandpaper made by Indasa, an international coated abrasives company headquartered in Portugal. I was surprised by its performance, longevity, and value given the price point. The Rhynogrip Whiteline is a good economical choice for woodworkers, hobbyists, and DIYers.

Ridgid 18V Heated Jacket

Over the course of the year I get sent a bunch of tools that I wouldn’t normally use. Alabama doesn’t get very cold during the winter months, and a heated jacket is not necessary for me to stay warm. However, I find this to be one of the most interesting products I’ve tried this year.

Dremel Expands Further into Everyday Use

Dremel has always been for me a tool that provides small rotary abrasive solutions. Dremel is still maintaining it’s target market by focusing on the beginner crafters and DIYers but has expanded their product line to include a cordless screwdriver and power cleaning tool.

Impact Driver vs. Impact Wrench

The impact driver and impact wrench both function similarly by using concussive rotational blows to the driver, whereas a drill would just spins. Impact drivers are great for situations where standard drills just don’t have enough power, whereas impact wrenches ideal for situations that require an higher level of torque to break seized nuts and bolts.

A laser level provides points or lines to layout plumb, level or square references within construction. DIYers and carpenters are using to hang cabinets and built ins. I’m going to be exploring two Bosch laser levels at two very broad price points.
